Since its founding by a small group of people living with HIV, SHIP has understood that services alone are not enough - real change requires advocacy. SHIP works to promote the human rights of PLHIV, challenge stigma and discrimination wherever it appears, and build legal literacy so people know and can claim their rights.
SHIP maintains active linkages with government departments including NACO and APSACS, using these relationships to advocate for inclusive policy and welfare measures that reach people living with and affected by HIV.
Community-level anti-stigma campaigns - in schools, workplaces and neighbourhoods - remain one of SHIP's most consistent and visible activities, changing attitudes one conversation at a time.
