Being diagnosed with HIV can be overwhelming, and the path from diagnosis to stable, lifelong treatment is not always straightforward. SHIP's Care & Treatment programme walks alongside PLHIV at every step - from the first referral to an ART Centre, through treatment counselling, to the ongoing work of staying adherent to medication.
Community and home-based care volunteers check in on people who are unwell, help families understand opportunistic infections, and make sure no one falls out of the treatment system because of stigma, distance or lack of information.
SHIP has built long-standing referral relationships with government hospitals and ART centres in Guntur District, ensuring warm hand-offs rather than people navigating the health system alone.
