A community that refused to let stigma have the last word.
SHIP began in 2003 in Guntur District when a small group of 7 people living with HIV came together in response to the stigma, discrimination and hardship they faced. More than two decades on, SHIP has grown into a trusted grassroots organization working at the intersection of health, education, child welfare, gender equality and social justice - always guided by the belief that every person deserves dignity, equality and the chance to thrive.

Because dignity should never depend on HIV status.
At a time when access to treatment and public awareness on HIV was limited, people living with HIV often faced rejection from families, communities, schools and workplaces - and their children faced dropout, poor nutrition and denied opportunity. SHIP exists to change that story: uniting people living with HIV, advocating for their rights, and delivering the services that make dignity possible in daily life.
